Resources for Businesses

Did you know...
Seventy percent of Centre/South shoppers are JP residents?
The spending power of JP residents exceeds $300 million?
Many residents would like to see more vibrant storefronts?

JPCS obtained this information by conducting a survey of Centre/South shoppers. An in-depth understanding of shoppers’ preferences and access to vital business development tools are two of the reasons why many Centre/South businesses turn to JPCS for guidance.

JPCS programs are a convenient, cost-effective way for small, independently-owned businesses to become more competitive in a complex urban environment. What’s more, JPCS programs are administered by JP residents – individuals who understand the district and want to see Centre/South businesses succeed.

Storefront Improvement Program
The Storefront Improvement Program offers matching funds and, in certain cases, design assistance to businesses in the JP Centre/South Main Streets (JPCSMS) business district in order to improve the appearance of individual building facades, signs and awnings, as well as the overall look of the district. Improvements must be to areas visible from the public way. The goal of this program is to leverage private improvements while making revitalization efforts affordable, creative and community-based. In the last five years, the Storefront Improvement Program has invested over $100,000 in physical improvements in our business district.

The Facade Improvement Program is administered by the Design Committee of JPCSMS in conjunction with Boston Main Streets. The Committee is made up of Centre/South Street property owners and residents, some of whom have design expertise and others who just want to improve the physical appearance of the community.

Funding can vary year to year for SIP. This year, we have a total of $10,000 to award for storefront improvements. The Design Committee has expressed a desire to use this money to fund two or more projects this year.

If you are interested in learning more about SIP or applying for the program, we encourage you to visit our website for information. You can read more about the program and download the application here. We also encourage you to contact us for more information.
